MDS renews ISO 9001 and ISO TS certifications
MDS, the largest manufacturer of brake discs and drums in Latin America, obtained the recertification of ISO 9001 and ISO TS. The certificates attest to the quality of the production o MDS parts. ISO standards establish requirements for the improvement of internal procedures, in several areas, that must be met by MDS in order to obtain the certification. These include monitoring the work environment, training of employees and measuring the satisfaction of customers, employees and suppliers.
ISO 9001 requires that various technical conditions are observed in order to obtain the certificate in any business activity. ISO TS is a certification that is exclusive for the automotive industry. It assures customers of the quality in the production of auto parts and automobiles. The company received ISO 9001 certification for the first time in 1999 and ISO TS in 2004.
"ISO certifications, principally TS, demonstrate that MDS uses the same procedures of the global automobile industry in the manufacturing of its products," MDS highlights.
Among the benefits is the reduction in production variation, increased efficiency, greater credibility among competitors and facilitating the understanding of quality requirements for all suppliers.
ISO is the acronym for International Organization for Standardization, a non-governmental organization to establish standards, which is present in 163 countries. At MDS, the certifications were granted by BRTÜV (ISO 9001: 2008) and TÜV Nord Cert (ISO TS 16949: 2009).
