MDS is the first company in Brazil to manufacture brake discs for the Volvo FH truck
In addition to being the largest manufacturer of brake discs and drums in Latin America, MDS is also the first company in Brazil to manufacture the brake disk for the Volvo FH truck, with the code D780A.
The Volvo FH 440hp is produced at the Volvo plant in Curitiba (PR) and is basically the same vehicle that is made in the manufacturing plants in Europe, which is one of the most demanding markets in the world. This vehicle is a benchmark in the truck market due to its low fuel consumption and good performance. The model won the 2009 Lotus Award in the truck category and was awarded the title "Truck of the Year" by Frota & Cia magazine.
For almost two decades, the Volvo FH Series has offered safety, efficiency and quality. "With our new versions, we will be even better in all three areas," says Claes Nilsson, President of Volvo Truck Corporation.
In addition to being used on the Volvo FH truck, the brake disc produced by MDS is also installed on Volvo articulated buses, known as "accordion" buses, on the B7, B9 and B12 models.
MDS's investments in this project were made in the areas of casting and machining, taking approximately three months to manufacture the first parts. "Being a large item, and with very unique characteristics, it was a challenge, because there is no Brazilian company in the market that manufactures this part. We are the first." comments Mauricio Gava, MDS Development Coordinator.
